For some reason, my company blocks MySpace (and similar sites) most of the time, yet there are small windows where it's accessible. Why does this happen?
Disclaimer: I know I shouldn't be logging on sites like that during business hours, but I have lots of downtime and it's hard to avoid!
Companies block sites for several reasons:
1. Liability: porn may be posted on myspace.com and an employee could claim its a hostile workplace as a result.
2. Viruses: Most employees have no clue what they are clicking on. Since they dont own the computer or have to worry about the damage they click on anything thats shiny.
3. Should be working: Im sure if you told your boss about your "down-time" he/she would give you things to do or lay you off and give your workload to someone else.
As to why its available during certain times:
1. Does it happen at the same times? if yes then whoever setup the filtering did it incorrectly.
2. If it happens randomly than either the administrators need to take the filter down to do somthing with the network, or the server running the filtering program is having troubles.

Because your company probably uses a product like Surf Control or Websense to block and monitor employee internet activity. These 2 products also give your company the ability to allow internet access at different times of the day. By the way, these products also have the ability to log all of your surfing activity even the activity that shows that you attempted to go to a site but were blocked. Hope this helps.
Most likely it is just a maintenance window on the company server, or an update being installed to the blocking software, depending on what your company uses.
It is easy to avoid. Read a book, read the news, learn about the business and move up the ladder.
i would suggest its probably because there server goes down for a short period of time, so the blocked sites will be allowed, because the server which controls what is allowed or not, is down, so therefore, the restrictions don't apply.... that makes more sense than them just randomly unblocking them. However some companies may unblock them at lunchtimes, or break periods, when workers are allowed to browse whatever they want......however this is unlikely because the sites were blocked for a reason, and this could make the system unsecure, so again i would suggest its because of a server problem :) Hope this helps!

Getting to blocked sites depends on what is being used to block you. Most of the time, a web proxy will get passed any filters. Many web proxies can be detected (and blocked) if your school/parents/boss are using good filtering tools.

Well, the only thing you can do is to go to the extreme. You can press the reset button on the router and put it back to factory settings. However, when doing that, you wipe out any encryption keys and other settings. So, it will be kinda obvious that you did so. Just face it, your dad so no...so its no.
I would suggest that you try a few different proxies. The poster above me said to reset it physically which will work, but like he said it'll be pretty obvious that you did it. I would recommend:

You know.. they probably blocked those websites for a reason. If you're really interested in getting them unblocked, go talk to your principal. But I highly doubt you'll find a way around it. I'd just deal with it and surf those sites at home, not at school.

Then look for Block List.
When you find it,click on it.
Then it will show you the people who who you have blocked.
And it Will also show..."Unblock User?"

then find the friend and click unblock user.

Go to your privacy settings and it should give an option close to the end that will give you your block list select it and unblock your friend. If that doesnt work go to your friends page, select the block option and it will ask if you want to unblock them. Either one of those should work for you.

Many schools and workplaces block certain sites from users. This is often for a variety of reasons, but it is their choice what you're allowed to view. After all, they're supplying you with the internet access and you'd be using it on their time using their facilities.
You will not be able to "unblock" it. This is either the job of the IT administration at your school, or the service providers.

I know you don't want to hear this, but you can't and you shouldn't even try because that is against the acceptable use policy at your school. They have sites blocked for a reason and trying to bypass their security will get you banned from using any of their their computers and probably even suspended or expelled. They track everything you do and you will get caught.
It doesn't matter what the teachers think - they don't make the school policies.
Do your schoolwork! You want to play on the internet, go home! They do this for 2 reasons! ! is to keep you from trouble, 2 is to keep you from infesting their network with that stupid crap you visit!
The Admins usually block for a Policy reason; If you do find a way around a site block, they can track it, and soon have that available. If the teachers really are okay about using sites that are currently blocked, the ideal way is to go through channels and ask for a site to be unblocked.

Then repeat steps 3-4 below
1.)Click on 'Home'
2.) (If you still have the classic view for your home page) You should have 'Account Settings' next to your profile pic and click on that.
3.) After you've clicked that you click on 'Privacy'
4.) Go down to 'Block Users' and in the description you click on 'View List'..
once you've clicked on it you see the list of people you block and you remove.
If you have the NEW home skin
1.) Go on your home page...Click on Edit Profile
2.) On the right side click on 'Account Settings' link and repeat steps 3-4 up above.
